Queensland bushfires: Waterbombing helicopter crashes near Toowoomba
A waterbombing helicopter has crashed while fighting a bushfire near Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, with the pilot escaping with minor injuries. It is believed the helicopter crashed in a fire zone on Sewell Road in Pechy on Wednesday afternoon, 13 November 2019. The pilot has been taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition after being treated by paramedics for minor injuries, Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) said. QAS described the crash as a "heavy helicopter landing". Pechey and nearby Hampton residents were issued with evacuation warning about 13h00 due to the fast-moving bushfire, as conditions worsen.
