Bloemfontein accident claims two lives, injures a third
A light motor vehicle accident occurred on Saturday, 5 December 2020, on the Soutpan road, 30kms from Bloemfontein in the Free State Province. Braam van Zyl, divisional officer at Mangaung Fire and Rescue Service reported that an adult male and female travelled with a VW Golf on the Soutpan Road. Due to an unknown reason, they stopped next to the road and was then hit from behind by an Iveco medium size truck. Both occupants were killed and one was trapped inside the vehicle. The occupants of the Iveco were not injured. “We responded with one fire engine with a crew of five and EMS, Med 24, ER24, Trauma Response Africa and the South African Police were also on scene. The incident was reported at 23h47; we arrived on scene at 00h10 and were available at 04h00. Hydraulic tools were used to free a trapped body”, said DO Van Zyl.
