Fire and Rescue NSW crews respond to eight alarm Moorebank factory fire in Sydney, Australia

On Friday, 20 September 2024, Fire and Rescue NSW crews responded to reports of a factory fire on Kaleski Street at Moorebank. Crews arrived to find a row of factory units well alight, with heavy fire spreading rapidly through the entire complex. More than 100 firefighters and 26 trucks were on scene. On arrival, crews were confronted with large volumes of smoke coming from the property and immediately set about tackling the fire with multiple lines of hose. Two aerial platforms were also being used to douse the flames from above.
Firefighters worked for several hours to contain the fire, facing flames over 20 metres high and numerous explosions. Firefighters in breathing apparatus worked from surrounding factories with hoselines to protect them, working with numerous aerial appliances from above and monitors from the ground.
Crews draughted from water tanks on Heathcote Road and set up a half a kilometre long water relay to supply the fireground.
