Cape Town crews respond to thatch house fire in Pinelands
A fire broke out at a thatched residential home on Sunday, 10 January 2021 in Peak Drive Pinelands, Cape Town.
Jermaine Carelse, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service said, “Crews responded to a thatch roof dwelling fire in Peak Drive, Pinelands and arrived on scene at 20h41. Brooklyn, Salt River, Milnerton, Wynberg and Goodwood fire stations all responded with a fire engine each while Epping Fire Station responded with a fire engine and water tanker and Roeland Street with a fire engine and a rescue vehicle. The entire dwelling and contents were destroyed in the fire. Challenges faced included the strong south easterly wind and the close proximity of the other thatch roof dwellings.
