KwaZulu-Natal: Train derailment injures two at Balgowan
Two people were left injured when a goods train derailed in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday morning, 10 July 2022. Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said that at 11h56am, Netcare 911 responded to a rail incident next to the R103, Nottingham Road in KwaZulu-Natal. Reports indicated that a goods train had derailed. When medics arrived on scene they found that most of the carts were lying down an embankment.”
“Two adult male occupants of the train were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. Once treated, both patients were transported by private ambulance to hospital”, said Herbst. Midlands EMS spokesperson Roland Robertson said their crews were dispatched to Balgowan following a train accident, along with Ballid security. “Upon arrival by the first ambulance, it was found that two patients had jumped out further up from the accident site, and more ambulances were dispatched to assist the injured members further up from the accident,” Robertson said.
