Washington, DC fire fighters tackle high-rise construction fire, US
DC fire fighters responded amid heavy smoke after a fire broke out on the roof of a high-rise under construction in the Northwest section of Washington, DC in the US on Monday, 15 March 2021. DC Fire and EMS crews used ladder trucks to ascend to the top of a high-rise under construction when fire broke out near the roof of the unfinished structure. DC fire officials said they encountered "heavy fire and smoke" on the roof of the multi-storey building site at 3rd and I streets in Northwest DC on Monday afternoon.
Fire fighters eventually contained the blaze to the roof with no downward extension and there were no injuries reported. Crews extinguished the fire and prevented any downward spread into the structure. Investigators will begin to conduct a search for the cause. #DCsBravest responded to 477 calls on Monday, 15 March 2021.
