Cape Town fire crews respond to Bellville flat fire
City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service fire crews responded to a flat fire in Bellville. Jermaine Carelse, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service, said, “The incident was reported on Friday, 6 May 2022, as a flat alight in Inthlabati Road, Oosterzee in Bellville, Cape Town. It was a flat alight on the sixth floor. Bellville Fire Station responded with a fire engine and water tanker, Goodwood with a fire engine and an aerial appliance and Milnerton Fire Station with a rescue vehicle.”
“Fire fighters managed to contain the fire to the room of the flat. The call was received at approximately 17h02 and the command was closed at 18h43.The room was severely affected by the fire and the remainder of the flat sustained smoke damage. No injuries were reported. Challenges faced included gaining access to the flat therefore the aerial appliance from Goodwood was requested,” said Carelse.
