Fire stations of the world: Phoenix Fire Station No 61, US

​Phoenix Fire Station No 61 was built in February 2008 and is situated at 1925 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona. The $3 956 770 Fire Station 61 is a three-bay facility designed to enhance this area in Phoenix through its contemporary motif. Modular red brick has been incorporated into the design, meeting the Fire Department’s desire to include traditional materials in their facilities.
 
This 10 500-square foot, three-bay station has bi-fold doors, a public entry and lobby, dining room/kitchen with full stainless steel cabinets, dayroom, exercise room, library, captain dorms, dorm rooms, men’s and women’s lockers and restrooms, turnout room, radio room, SCBA and EMS rooms and a laundry room. The building was constructed using insulated concrete form (ICF) wall system. The ICF system has excellent thermal and acoustical properties making it an ideal solution for fire station design.
 
The Phoenix Fire Department is one of the busiest fire departments in the United States. Phoenix currently has 59 fire stations and nine battalions. It has 65 engine companies, 14 ladder companies and 32 rescue companies (ambulances).
