Parow storage facility burns out of control as fire fighters battle blaze, Cape Town
The City of Cape Town’s fire fighters sprang into action in the early hours of Monday morning, 23 May 2022, as a storage facility in Parow in Cape Town went up in flames. Fire fighters received the call just after 5h00am and were alerted to a fire in the area of Parow East. Around 40 fire fighters are currently on the scene as they attempt to contain the blaze which was still raging at around 8h00am.
“The City’s Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the fire at about 05h25am today, Monday, 23 May 2022 and, at the moment, there are 40 fire fighters, 10 fire fighting appliances as well as an aerial appliance on the scene of the fire on the corner of Fritz Spilhaus Avenue and Jean Simon Street,” said City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services, Jermaine Carelse. There is no word on the cause of the fire but thankfully, no injuries have been reported. According to Carelse, the roof of the storage facility has caved in and the firefighters are battling to ensure that structures nearby are not affected by the blaze. Sources: EWN, Cape Talk |
