Fire breaks out at dwelling in Simon’s Town, Cape Town

A fire broke out a dwelling in Simons’ Town in Cape Town on Thursday, 20 June 2024. Jermaine Carelse, spokesperson, City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service, said, “The Fire and Rescue Service confirms that a formal dwelling was severely damaged. Reports confirmed damage to the first floor and loft area. The ground floor sustained water and smoke damage.”
“The following fire stations assisted with water pumps, Simon’s Town, Fish Hoek and Wynberg. Lakeside Fire Station provided a water tanker, rescue vehicle and motor pump. Hout Bay Fire Station assisted with a water tanker and Kommetjie Fire Station with a motor pump and skid unit”, added Carelse.
“Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 19h40 and the fire was extinguished at 23h55. Challenges faced included that additional resources had to be called for water supply.”
