Bloemfontein bus crash leaves ten dead
|

Ten people died in a freak accident on Friday, 14 November 2025, when a truck and an Interstate Bus Train collided in Mandela View, Free State. The department of transport said 41 people were involved in the crash, with six passengers suffering severe to critical injuries. They were rushed to Pelonomi Trauma Unit where they are receiving medical care. “Seven others sustained moderate injuries and were taken to Botshabelo Hospital and Busamed. A further 24 people with minor injuries were transported to Botshabelo Hospital, while one person opted not to go to hospital,” said national spokesperson Collen Msibi in a statement.
The incident report stated, “A serious multi-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 06:35am on the N8 between Botshabelo and Bloemfontein, near the RRR farming area. The incident involved a bus train and a heavy motor vehicle, with emergency services on the scene.
Casualty report
* 19 individuals with minor injuries
* 5 individuals with moderate injuries
* 6 individuals critically injured
* 10 fatalities confirmed on scene (7 males, 3 females, all adults)

Patients have been transported to:
* Braam Fischer Busamed Hospital
* Pelonomi Trauma Hospital (Bloemfontein)
* Botshabelo Hospital (Botshabelo)

* Weather: Rainy, which may have contributed to the severity of the crash
* Road Closure: Lanes heading into Bloemfontein are currently closed
* Motorist Advisory: Use alternative routes and drive cautiously
