Fire rips through chemical company warehouse in Sasolburg
A fire ripped through a warehouse of a chemical company in Sasolburg Eco Industrial Park in Sasolburg in the Free State on Friday, 21 January 2022. Arno Mcleod, director at ICS Hydrocarbons, said the fire broke out at around 10h00. "Our warehouse was destroyed. There were no injuries to personnel and the fire has been extinguished." The company produces high-quality creosote for wood preservation applications. According to their website, the product was suitable for various applications, including pressure treatment of timber and aftermarket brush on maintenance of timber structures. Fire and Rescue International requested information on the response but have not received a response to date. We do know, however, that apart from Sasolburg Fire Department, various other agencies responded to assist in the fire fighting operations and incident management.
