Massive fire engulfs high-rise building in Jakarta as flames rip through six upper floors, Indonesia

​A major fire tore through the upper floors of Jakarta's Abdul Muis Technical Service Building on Friday night, 7 August 2026, sending flames across six floors and triggering a large emergency response in the Indonesian capital. A renovation worker trapped on the 15th floor was rescued and taken to Tarakan Regional General Hospital for treatment. Authorities said no deaths had been reported. Jakarta's fire and rescue service deployed 37 fire units and 185 personnel, supported by three Bronto Skylift aerial vehicles, to reach the upper floors. A later operational update put the deployment at 40 units and 200 personnel.
 
Footage shows flames engulfing the upper section of the building as burning debris fall to the ground. Fire engines and emergency crews later surround the site.
 
The fire was reported at around 21:30 local time on Friday and spread from the 11th to the 16th floors, according to Jakarta authorities. Strong winds complicated the operation and helped the flames flare up again as firefighters worked through the night.
 
Authorities and emergency crews worked through the night to control the heavy flames and clear burning debris falling from the upper tiers. The cause of the high-rise fire remains under active investigation by local law enforcement and safety inspectors.
