Cobra Fire’s CAFS solutions

The first few minutes of a fire incident can determine whether emergency responders achieve containment or face a much larger suppression challenge. For this reason, rapid intervention has become an increasingly important component of modern firefighting strategies. Cobra Fire’s CAFS drop-in units were developed to support this objective. Designed for utility vehicles such as the Toyota Land Cruiser and Ford Ranger, these systems allow firefighters to reach remote or previously inaccessible locations quickly while carrying a highly effective suppression solution. The technology behind the system is Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS).
By combining foam solution with compressed air, the system creates an expanded foam stream capable of covering significantly larger surface areas than plain water alone. Depending on the application, foam expansion can increase coverage by up to ten times compared to an equivalent volume of water.
This increased efficiency offers several operational benefits. Firefighters can achieve faster knockdown times, use less water, reduce overall resource requirements and minimise environmental impact. The expanded foam also adheres effectively to vertical and uneven surfaces while providing improved insulation against heat.
Each unit can deploy lay-flat hose lengths of up to 90 metres, allowing responders to access fires in challenging locations without needing to position the vehicle directly at the incident.
Importantly, CAFS technology supports firefighter safety as well. Faster suppression, reduced steam generation, improved visibility and lighter hose handling requirements all contribute to more effective emergency response operations.
