In challenging underground mining environments, the combination of confined spaces and the potential for high-intensity fires demands a specialised, highly portable response solution. Traditional firefighting apparatus often lacks the manoeuvrability and water efficiency required to operate effectively in subterranean conditions, where visibility is limited and the accumulation of heat and toxic gases presents a constant risk to crews. Industrial Fire & Hazard Control addresses these unique hazards with the Badger Tactical UHP, a professional ultra-high-pressure firefighting system designed to be mounted on a client-supplied UV cassette.
Specifically engineered for underground operations, the Badger Tactical UHP uses advanced atomisation technology to produce a fine water mist, enabling rapid fire knockdown while significantly reducing overall water consumption.
The Badger Tactical UHP pump system delivers a flow rate of 75 litres per minute at an operating pressure of 100 bar, providing consistent ultra-high-pressure performance suited to confined and high-risk environments. The unit is equipped with a 1 000-litre polypropylene water tank and a 75-litre foam tank, integrated with a Class A foam proportioning system. Water and foam delivery is managed via a rear-mounted electric rewind hose reel fitted with 60 metres of 19mm high-pressure hose and an ultra-high-pressure pistol-grip nozzle. Where operationally required, the hose length can be extended to 100 metres.
Operationally, the Badger Tactical UHP excels in rapid-response scenarios where water conservation and crew safety are critical. The micronised water droplets, approximately 65 microns in size, expand rapidly on contact with heat, absorbing radiant energy, displacing oxygen at the fire edge and slowing fire development. The fine mist also assists in drawing smoke and airborne particulates downward, improving visibility for responding crews during suppression and overhaul. When combined with Silv-Ex Class A foam, the system achieves improved penetration of burning materials, enhanced cooling, and more effective knockdown, making the Badger Tactical UHP particularly well suited to underground firefighting operations.
