ETS accredited self- study/online platform
The ETS online platform has been operating successfully since December 2020 and is aimed at employed emergency response practitioners with workplace experience. We will not exclude anyone from participating based on employment status. Learners will be required to study and prepare at their own pace. Many competent and experienced fire and emergency services personnel find it difficult to attend training due to the continued change of qualification, the duration of training and associated cost. This platform is to provide experienced fire fighters and emergency services personnel the opportunity to obtain recognised qualifications and certificates in a flexible manner.
The online programme is designed to recognise previous training and experience. Candidates will have the opportunity to prepare and study at their own pace and select a date for assessment that suits them best. The programme must be completed within 12 months from enrolment or the learner will be required to restart the process. We are planning to include voluntary instructor online contact sessions to assist candidates with theoretical preparation, skill sheet requirements and assembling of the portfolio of evidence (PoE). Candidates will have access to all online sessions for the program enrolled in. Candidates will be notified should new sessions be scheduled. The courses offered are: Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations, Hazardous Materials Technician; Fire Fighter 1, Fire Fighter 2, Fire Service Instructor, Fire Officer 1, Fire Inspector 1 and 2, Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator, Fire Investigation, Hazardous Materials Operations Core, Hazardous Materials Operations MSC Product and Hazardous Material Incident Commander. Anyone can enter the programme if they meet the entry requirements. It is recommended that you have workplace experience to enter. Some programmes require skilled and technical assistance during the preparation phase and due to the technical requirements, entry can be restricted. Assessments for all programmes entered must take place in person at an agreed venue and under directed supervision of a ETS appointed/approved assessor/evaluator/proctor.
