DMISA Disaster Risk Reduction Conference 2020: Call for papers
The Disaster Management Institute of Southern Africa (DMISA) will be holding its 2020 conference in Durban in KwaZulu-Natal on 30 September and 1 October 2020. The conference theme for this year will be ‘Impact and influence: Enhancing strategy and execution in disaster, risk and resilience management’. The Global Target from the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction that will be the focus theme for 2020 is to “substantially increase the number of countries with national and local disaster risk reduction strategies by 2020”. With this theme in mind and well aware that strategy is meaningless without practical execution, DMISA has decided to dedicate DRR 2020 to enhancing strategy and execution in disaster reduction, bringing about real impact in the battle to reduce disaster risk and build resilience and exercising real influence towards disaster risk reduction across sectors and disciplines. Interested persons are invited to submit abstracts of proposed papers to the Conference Coordinating Committee for consideration for inclusion in the conference programme.

Abstracts of no more than 300 words, should be submitted electronically to the Conference Coordinating Committee care of The Administrator at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Abstracts should clearly state the purpose, results and conclusions of the work to be described in the final paper.
Last day for submission of abstract: 15 May 2020
Final notice of approval of abstracts: 29 May 2020
Deadline for submission of papers: 24 July 2020
