The Fire Ops South Africa fire sheet

Picture
Picture
Fire Ops South Africa (FOSA) initially introduced the fire sheet in its operations as a means to compartmentalise a fire room. Windows of which panes have already broken on arrival are covered externally, nailing them down using a Hilti tool or by hanging it in the passage to assist with fire flow path management. It was subsequently introduced as a control measure at car fires, where the sheet is simply dragged over the burning car. In some instances the sheet is physically pierced and a nozzle is introduced through this limited opening, delivering some ten to twenty litres of water into the compartment, resulting in a steam pocket being created.

The sheet can withstand direct radiated heat to approximately 400 degrees Celsius for a maximum of two hours or 800 degrees Celsius for approximately 20 minutes at any given time.

FOSA fire sheets are manufactured using a flexible fire-retardant material made from fibreglass and proprietary resins.

All sheets come with deployment handles suitable for hand deployment as well as with the use of pike poles to gain extra height. 9. 500g/sq.m (+-5%).

The sheets are available from Fire Ops.
