Security under pressure: why Securex matters more than ever

From 21 to 23 October 2025, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) will host the first-ever Western Cape edition of Securex South Africa. Co-located in one hall with A-OSH Expo, Facilities Management Expo and Firexpo, this landmark event brings together safety, security, fire and facilities management in a single, integrated showcase designed to address the region’s most pressing challenges. “And those challenges are considerable. According to Statistics South Africa around 1.5 million households, nearly 6%, experienced housebreaking in the past year, making it the most common household crime in the country. In business environments, burglary continues to dominate, with 44% of companies reporting exposure compared to just 13% for robbery,” says Mark Anderson, Portfolio Director at Montgomery Group Africa.
The Western Cape has also seen a worrying trend in violent crime. Over an 18-year period, the province recorded a 20% increase in the murder rate, underlining the need for smarter prevention strategies.
