Rural Metro becomes South Africa’s only JOIFF-accredited training centre

Rural Metro Emergency Management Services has achieved a significant milestone as South Africa’s only JOIFF-accredited training centre, strengthening its position as a provider of internationally recognised fire, rescue and emergency response training. JOIFF, the International Organisation for Industrial Emergency Services Management, focuses on improving emergency response capability within high-hazard industrial environments. Its accreditation recognises training establishments that meet defined standards across areas including training facilities, safety management systems, instructor competence, course quality, assessment and verification. For Rural Metro, the accreditation provides international recognition of its capability to deliver competency-based training specifically designed for the complex demands of high-hazard environments.
This is particularly relevant to industries such as mining, petrochemical, oil and gas, energy, manufacturing and aviation, where effective emergency preparedness and competent emergency response teams are critical.
The achievement complements Rural Metro’s established IFSAC-accredited training portfolio. While IFSAC accreditation supports internationally recognised professional firefighting and rescue training standards, JOIFF accreditation further strengthens Rural Metro’s capability in specialised industrial and high-hazard emergency response training.
Together, the two accreditations provide Rural Metro with a broader internationally benchmarked training capability, while giving clients and learners greater confidence in the quality, relevance and practical application of its programmes.
As South Africa’s only JOIFF-accredited training centre, Rural Metro is setting a new benchmark for emergency response training and strengthening its ability to develop competent responders across South Africa, the African continent and beyond.
