Baby rescued from apartment roof’s edge in India
A video captured the rescue of a baby who had fallen out of an apartment block and onto the roof’s edge of the unit below in Chennai, India. The video of the dramatic rescue of a seven-month-old baby after she fell from the fourth floor of an apartment in Chennai and was stuck on the roof has gone viral. In the two-minute-20-second video, the baby dangles over the edge of the tin sheet on the second floor of the apartment complex in Thirumullaivoyal near Avadi as residents gather to rescue him.
In the clip, recorded from the balcony of the opposite block, people are seen holding a bed sheet to prevent the baby from falling as a man climbs to the first-floor balcony from the window.
As the rescue attempt is underway, the baby can be seen slipping closer to the edge of the roof. Then another man climbs onto the balcony railing and tries to grab the child as residents are heard screaming. The man steadies himself, stretches his arm, grabs the baby and passes her to people inside the apartment.
According to reports, the child sustained minor injuries on her arm and leg and was rushed to a hospital.
The video of the incident left social media users curious about how the child fell from the fourth floor, accumulating almost a million views.
Reacting to the video, a user commented, “Question, how in the hell did the kid end up over there? Where are the parents? watching webseries maybe.” Another user said, “From what I could gather from this thread looks like the baby slipped out of mother’s hand from one of the upper floor balcony onto this shed structure. This is why it is so important to have safety grill & net installed on balconies on all apartments. Miracle that kid is ok.”
“Thankfully it ended well. Hopefully they will block the way through which baby reached there,” a third user wrote.
In December 2023, a three-year-old boy died after he fell from the eighth floor of an apartment complex in Chennai’s Navalur.
