Euro NCAP/CTIF releases online desktop version of the Euro Rescue app

500 000 first responders have downloaded the Euro Rescue app for smartphones in Europe since the launch in June of 2020. This means more than 1 500 Rescue Sheets have been designed according to the ISO 17840 standard have been made available to European first responders. The new desktop version of Rescue app is perfect for 911 call centres and command centres where there is a stable internet connection and large screens to pull up the rescue sheet for fast and close study. Euro NCAP's new site is very fast loading and provides a very easy interface, either by a visual list of automobile brands or by search.
Naturally, the mobile app for smartphones and tablets continue to be available for Apple and Android devices as it is a very popular product among first responders!
The International Association of Fire and Rescue Services (CTIF) has been instrumental in the conception of these Rescue Sheets which help make all road rescue and extrication work safer.
Already in September of 2023, the half a million mark was surpassed for downloads of this very useful app, which is for first responders, secondary responders and others in the tertiary chain of response and safety.
In November 2022, we passed 200 000 downloads and only ten months later we surpassed 500 000.
This means that the user base for this app has more than doubled in less than a year. Considering it was launched in 2020, we can conclude the popularity of this app is now growing exponentially and now faster than ever before!
Downloads from all over the world - not just in Europe
Preliminary stats from Euro NCAP show that the United States is fourth on the list of the most users who have downloaded and are using the Euro Rescue App, after countries like the UK, Germany and France, who are leading the statistics on both iOS and Android operating systems.
The more detailed stats show that Euro Rescue currently has users all over the world, so Euro Rescue is actually becoming a worldwide success, not just a hit among Europeans.
The Euro NCAP Euro Rescue app provides easy access to rescue sheets is available free of charge in for Android and Apple tablets and phones, giving first responders access to rescue sheets for common cars sold in Europe, including electric, hybrid and other alternative energy propulsion technologies.

Today, car safety is not only about occupant protection and promoting driver assistant systems but also concerns better post-crash safety. As vehicles have become tougher, more complex and alternatively powered, it has become increasingly crucial that first responders know what they can and can’t do at the scene of an accident. Intervention within the golden hour is critical and rescuers need quick and straightforward information regarding the construction of a vehicle to help safely remove persons from the wreck. For this reason, car manufacturers make so-called “Rescue Sheets” and “Emergency Response Guides” available.
A Rescue Sheet is a standardised summary page containing all the crucial information rescuers need to carry out occupant extrication quickly and safely. This includes the location of components eg airbags and pre-tensioners and high-voltage electrical cables and batteries, all of which could present a hazard to trapped occupants and to the rescuers themselves. Manufacturer emergency response guides contain more detailed instructions to educate and assist first responders during training and are particularly important for alternative fuel vehicles.
Euro NCAP has, together with The International Association of Fire & Rescue Services (the CTIF), centralised the manufacturers’ rescue sheets in a new app, ‘Euro Rescue’. The app can be downloaded freely and is available for Android & iOS. It can be used both online and offline, allowing rescuers to access the information even when there is little or no network coverage at the scene of the crash. For all cars assessed from 2020 onwards, Euro NCAP will verify the content and share ISO-compliant rescue sheets and emergency response guides for new energy vehicles, via the new app.
Euro Rescue is launched in English, French, German and Spanish*. From 2023, the app will be available in all European languages. The use of the app is not restricted to Europe: the Australasian New Car Assessment Program, (ANCAP SAFETY), the region’s independent vehicle safety authority, also launches its app ‘ANCAP Rescue’ based on Euro Rescue today.
