Two Lamborghinis crash, one catches fire, in front of Denver Fire Station, US
The Denver Fire Department in Colorado in the US asked drivers to remember to drive safely after two Lamborghinis crashed in front of a fire station on Thursday, 6 October 2022. Fire department officials said that the accident occurred in front of Denver Fire Station 1 and one of the cars caught fire in that station’s front yard.
CBS Colorado reported that the drivers of both cars were arrested Thursday night and are facing DUI, reckless driving and speed exhibition charges, the report said. The two drivers who were allegedly street racing in a pair of Lamborghinis crashed in Denver on Thursday night and both men were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The crash happened at about 22h10 near Speer Boulevard and West Colfax Avenue, according to police. One of the two exotic sports cars caught on fire in front of Denver Fire Department Station No 1, 745 W Colfax Ave., the department said. Based on a witness account, the drivers were stopped for a red traffic light on Speer, revving the engines and both “accelerated as fast as possible” when the light turned green, crashing in short order, according to an arrest affidavit. Police identified the drivers as 28-year-old Hunter Carter Hinson and 32-year-old Alexis Marquis Doyal. The car Doyal was driving burst into flames. Both drivers were taken to Denver Health Medical Centre. A 9mm handgun was found on the floorboard of the passenger seat in the car that Hinson was driving, police said. The gun magazine was found in the intersection near the vehicle crash. Both men were arrested on investigation of driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and speed exhibition, police said. Hinson is also being investigated for prohibited use of a weapon under the influence; Doyal for failure to display proof of insurance and DUI alcohol. Both men were in the custody of the Denver Sheriff Department at the hospital. With a big, 5.2-liter V10 located behind the passenger cell, the Lamborghini Huracan is a supercar that produces upwards of 600 horsepower depending on the variant. Like other exotics of this calibre, it's not uncommon for one to catch fire after a serious collision like this, and the separating engine is said to be a feature, not a bug, allowing distance between occupants and that potentially flammable motor.
