Luxembourg fire fighters sending eight ambulances to their Ukrainian counterparts
Almost 10 months after the start of the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian armed forces, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) responded to the call of Ukraine asbl to mobilise intervention vehicles for the Ukrainian emergency services. The CGDIS fire fighters have therefore made eight ambulances available to their Ukrainian counterparts, which have recently been withdrawn from the operational service following the delivery of new generation vehicles. It should be noted that teams from the Logistics Resources Department have carried out a series of internal works and reviews to guarantee the functionality and safety of these vehicles, which have also been provided with first aid equipment.
The official handover of the keys to these intervention vehicles took place on Thursday, 15 December 2022 at the National Fire and Rescue Centre (CNIS) in the presence of Minister of the Interior Taina Bofferding, Madam President of the Council Directors Lydie Polfer, the Director General of the CGDIS Paul Schroeder, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine in Brussels Natalia Anoshyna, the Honorary Consul Claude Radoux, the representative of the European Commission Anne Calteux and representatives of Ukraine asbl. This donation adds to the list of equipment already made available by Luxembourg and then sent to Ukraine and represents an additional step in the international effort and to help the Ukrainian population. The eight ambulances will leave in convoy to Ukraine on 21 December 2022 with other vehicles mobilised as part of the "Ukraine is calling" campaign. Source: Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS |
