During the early hours of Sunday morning, 22 January 2023 at around 02h00am, a fire engine of the Mangaung Fire and Rescue Service was involved in an accident. Braam van Zyl, divisional officer at Mangaung Fire and Rescue Service, said, “A two-person crew of the Botshabelo Fire Station were on their way to a house fire.”
He added, “When travelling down the Main road in rainy conditions, the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled. Fortunately no one was injured. The fire was extinguished by two other fire fighters who responded with a water tanker.”
“The fire engine that sustained extensive damage is a Mercedes Benz Atego that was built by Fire Raiders,” said Van Zyl.
