Training: Fire fighter VRS: Rigging option #4: Webbing seat harness
This video, along with the other three in the series, will review one of the four Belt and Harness Rigging options available to our personnel. The Webbing Seat Harness, worn between the liner and shell of your turnout pants, is intended to work in conjunction with either an "integrated" (pre-attached) system or one that is "independent" (not pre-attached) to a belt or harness. This webbing harness is very inexpensive, extremely light weight and when compared to a Class I escape belt, much more comfortable when loaded. Despite all this it still meets the strength requirements necessary for rappelling, self rescue and personal escape. Just like anything else there are both advantages and disadvantages to pre-connecting a PES/PSS/VRS to your belt or harness. The user needs to understand all the factors involved before they can make and educated decision on which setup they prefer.
