German Embassy continues partnering with Namibian NGO, EMA Emergency Medical Assistance Organisation
The German Embassy continues partnering with the local NGO “EMA Emergency Medical Assistance Organisation” to support the Namibian Government to provide excellent medical assistance. In September 2021, EMA Emergency Medical Assistance Organisation received a grant of 1 700 000 NAD (approx. 98 500 EUR) through the micro project fund of the German Embassy to procure five mobile medical emergency units and other additional medical equipment to support the medical state institution’s “Intermediate Hospital Katutura”. On Friday 2 September 2022, the official handing over of the equipment took place together with Dr Andreas Götze, Chargé d’ Affaires of the German Embassy and the Executive Director of the Ministry of Health, Ben Nangombe at the Intermediate Hospital Katutura.
The equipment will manage the influx of patients to medical emergency units; more specifically, (greatly) support the treatment of urgent emergencies and casualties and therefore help will be provided where it is most needed. We trust that the disadvantaged communities that depend on (free) medical services at the state hospital will now be able to receive attention and treatment faster than before. Project Partner: EMA Emergency Medical Assistance Organisation EMA is a non-profit-organization founded in November 2019. Its mission is to make emergency care available for everyone by offering first aid with its emergency ambulance service. For those community members that cannot afford a private ambulance the service is free of charge. Because of its close and distinguished working relationship with the Ministry of Health and Social Services and its work on the ground, EMA is an excellent partner to serve the community with medical assistance. Through their daily contact with people in need of medical treatment, the members of EMA could best judge what equipment was needed. |
