National Emergency Medical Service Day celebration held in Gauteng
The Gauteng Department of Health and the City of Ekurhuleni commemorated National Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Day at Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston.
Leading the commemoration was Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health in Gauteng Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, who unveiled a new fleet of specialised emergency vehicles and spent some time with the team to acknowledge them for their hard work. Amongst the vehicles unveiled was the EMS Obstetrics Ambulance, custom-designed for the delivery of babies in transit. It is equipped with an incubator in case of a delivery while on the road and has advanced defibrillator and intensive care unit capabilities.
