Student pilot injured in Cessna crash-land at Wonderboom Airport, Pretoria

​A student pilot was injured when the Cessna she was flying crash-landed at Wonderboom Airport in Pretoria on Friday, 20 October 2023. Deputy chief Charles Mabaso, public information and liaison officer for the City of Tshwane Emergency Services said that Wonderboom Airport ARFF and private ambulances were on the scene.
 
“Shortly after the Cessna 172M Skyhawk landed at Wonderboom Airport (PRY/FAWB), it overturned upside-down due to strong winds. The pilot, the lone occupant aboard, suffered minor injuries”, according to Aviation Safety Net.
 
“Circumstances surrounding the cause of the crash will be investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority. Regards, Mabaso
Incident occurred today at approximately 10h34”, said Mabaso.
 
Pro Med spokesperson Michael Gough said the service was alerted to the incident by the Wonderboom Airport ARFF at 10h40 and later treated the pilot for minor injuries. “It is alleged that the 22-year-old woman touched down on the runway and a sidewind flipped the aircraft.”
