Technology: Introducing the future of fire fighting: XPRIZE Wildfire $11M prize competition

​The XPRIZE Foundation is proud to announce its newest competition, XPRIZE Wildfire. XPRIZE Wildfire is an $11 million, 4-year competition designed to bring an end to extreme wildfire events through innovations in fire fighting technology. Extreme wildfire events are becoming more common and burning hotter than ever before, both caused by and contributing to climate change. Every year, destructive wildfires claim 340 000 deaths globally and more than $350 billion worth of economic damages in the US alone. Contestants will enter one of two tracks: Autonomous Wildfire Response or Space-Based Wildfire Detection and Intelligence.
