Tshwane crews respond to structural fire at butchery in Montana, Pretoria
A structural fire broke out at a butchery in Montana, Pretoria, on Wednesday, 29 March 2023. Charles Mabaso, deputy chief: public information and liaison officer at the City of Tshwane Emergency Services said, “At 13h02, we received a call from Emergency Communication Centre (ECC) informing us that there was a structural on fire Corner Tecomaria and Taaifontein, Montana, Pretoria. Upon arrival crews found that the structure was fully involved and they cooled down the oxygen liquid tank and removed nine carbon dioxide cylinders and prevent the fire from spreading to the next warehouse.”
Mabaso added, “Station 15 responded with Engine 151 and five crew, Station 9 responded with Engine 925 and five crew, Station 02 responded with Tanker 21 and Station 21 with Tanker 41. Challenges faced included radio communication and low pressure on hydrants; it was only three bar.”
No one was reported injured. The cause of the fire is unknown and will be subjected to investigation.
