Tshwane Emergency Services extinguishes an electrical substation fire in Lynwood, east of Pretoria

The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department responded to an electrical substation that caught fire on Saturday, 2 March 2024. The substation is located on Lynwood Road and Kings Highway Road in Lynwood. Upon receiving a call at 20:35 that a transformer in an electrical substation had exploded and caught fire, the Emergency Services Department dispatched two fire trucks, one foam tender and a rapid intervention unit to the incident.
The City of Tshwane Electricity Department issued a certificate/work permit to firefighters on the scene, declaring that electricity was switched off and firefighters immediately doused off the fire using firefighting foam.
The scene was then handed over to the Electricity Department to determine the extent of the damages and to commence with repairs. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
