ETS accredited self-study/online platform

The journey to obtain IFSAC certification accreditation started in 2014. Due to the hard work, diligence and commitment of the ETS quality assurance team consisting of members from management, training and safety departments, we managed to obtain IFSAC Accreditation on 17 August 2018. Our online platform currently consists of these NFPA courses:
  1. NFPA 1001 Firefighter 1
  2. NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2
  3. NFPA 1021 Fire Officer 1
  4. NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector 1
  5. NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector 2
  6. NFPA 1033 Fire Investigator
  7. NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor 1
  8. NFPA 1072 Hazmat Awareness
  9. NFPA 1072 Hazmat Operations
  10. NFPA 1072 Hazmat Technician
  11. NFPA 1072 Hazmat Incident Commander

The following NFPA programmes will be added in the near future:
  1. Pump Operator NFPA 1002 (2017 standard ed)
  2. Airport Fire Fighter NFPA 1003 (2019 standard ed)
  3. Fire Officer II NFPA 1021 (2020 standard edition)
  4. Fire Instructor II NFPA 1041 (2019 standard ed)
  5. Fire Instructor III NFPA 1041 (2019 Standard ed)

All the NFPA levels are included on our online platform which has been operating successfully since December 2020. It has grown substantially from 40 students in the first year to 285 to date.

This platform provides experienced fire fighters and emergency services personnel the opportunity to obtain recognised qualifications and certificates in a flexible manner as it recognises previous training and experience. Candidates will have the opportunity to prepare and study at their own pace and select a date for assessment that suits them best. The programme must be completed within 12 months from enrolment or the learner will be required to restart the process.
Anyone can enter the program if they meet the entry requirements. It is recommended that you have workplace experience to enter. Some programs require skilled and technical assistance during the preparation phase, and due to the technical requirements, entry can be restricted.

Assessments for all programmes entered must take place in person at an agreed venue and under directed supervision of a ETS appointed/approved assessor/evaluator/proctor.

The certification and accreditation of ETS is a validation of our commitment to provide quality services to our clients that will meet and exceed expectation. We are able to provide services consistently and reliably that meet national and international standards.

The IFSAC Quality assurance standards will allow ETS to fill a long outstanding gap in the certification of South African fire fighters. Fire fighters assessed by ETS will be able to be certified for the National SAQA registered qualification as well as the associated and aligned NFPA standards.
